Transportation: Car rentals (Hertz, Budget) are available in Whitefish, but there are always people driving back and forth providing rides. For those camping, the nearby village of Olney has a general store and we always have a car or pickup available for quick trips. The closest Lodge is Grouse Mountain on hwy 93 W. near Whitefish.
Fuel: We do not have fuel at the lake, but MO-GAS is available at Whitefish Lake and 100 LL at Seeley Lake. Westbound planes can get fuel in CDA at Brooks and Lake Chelan.
Those needing immediate fuel we will have volunteers ready to take you in to the airport to fill Jerry Jugs.
Getting in and out: The lake is small, but we have had most every kind of aircraft from J-3's to Goose's with no problem. For those with full loads, we will gladly take your passengers and or gear to the marina at Whitefish Lake at any time. We all consider safety the most important issue in hosting a flying event. T
FIRES: Forest fires have always been with us in the summer, but 2003 was extremely bad. We were fortunate to have a smoke free weekend for our event, but IFR conditions were frequent for all of Aug. and Sept.
Check NOTAMS and flight service for current information. We had representatives from the Fire Control Center at our 03 Splash In to help pilots avoid conflict with the aerial water tankers and helicopter operations. Be very careful !
We also monitor 122.9
A photo of approaches is provided. Additional maps are available in the map section and the past event section has numerous shots of the site.
