For those not canping at our lake there are hundreds of accommodation, from resorts, lodges, motels, B&B's and guest ranches throughout the Flathead Valley and into Glacier Park.  The Whitefish Chamber of Commerce  (406-862-3501) will be glad to send you information on lodging, places to see and things to do. The Glacier Park reservation (GPI) # is 602 -207- 6000.

Below are just a few of the nearby accommodations our guests have used in recent years.   One word of advice, the most popular properties fill up quickly for early August.  Call as soon as possible. Always ask for the Stillwater Landing rate if available.

Closest to us is Grouse Mountain Lodge.  This beautiful resort is only 14 miles from Lower Stillwater Lake, on Hwy 93 W. one mile west of downtown Whitefish.  It sits on the Whitefish Lake golf course, and is across the street from the famous Whitefish Golf Course's rustic gourmet restaurant. Their web site is for their two lodges, adventure activities and general Montana travel and recreation information. www.montanasfinest.com  Their # is 1-877-862-1505

Next  in Whitefish is the Pine Lodge. It is also very nice.  We have a special rate here as well.  Their # is 800-305-7463 and web site at  www.thepinelodge.com

A few blocks south on Hwy 93 is Best Western Rocky Mountain Lodge.  Their # is 406-862-2569

Close by but more moderately priced are the Chalet Motel, # 406-682-5581, Whitefish Motel, 406-862-3507, and the Super 8 at # 406-862-8255

On Whitefish lake itself (on the road to the Big Mountain Ski resort) is Whitefish Lake Lodge Resort and Marina. Their# is 406-862-292  There are also many B&B's  in the area including Good Medicine Lodge, 406-862-5488, in Whitefish.  For something different try one of the many guest ranches in the area

Between Whitefish and Glacier Int. Airport (FCA) is the North Forty Resort. This was our favorite until we built our cabins.  Spacious log cabins with fireplaces are perfect for families or larger groups. Their # is 800-775-1740.

The Kalispell area has many accommodations, but I will recommend that pilots who would like to "park their wheel plane by their room" consider the Aero Inn at Kalispell City airport. (S27) Their # is 800-843-6114 and web is www.aeroinn.com   Across Hwy.93 S. is the Outlaw Inn and Convention Center.  Their # is # 406-755-6100.  Rent a car and be at the "Splash In" in about 45 min.

After the splash in consider a trip to Glacier Park, Flathead Lake or sign up for a local mountain flying course. There are a number of back country strips nearby to visit.  If headed south, a stop in the McCall Idaho area offers even more back country strips.  For floatplanes, Brooks in CDA has fuel and a great place to stop.
